| POLICY OBJECTIVE |
The school is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all.
Central to the Student and Staff Health Policy are the need to:
Avoid the spread of communicable disease with a program of education and exclusion of infected children.
Provide emergency first aid facilities and to ensure staff are qualified to deal with normal illness and accidents.
|
HYGIENE AND INFECTION CONTROL |
All staff must take precautions to avoid infection and follow basic hygiene procedures. Staff should have access to single use disposable gloves and hand washing facilities. Extra care should be taken when dealing with blood or any other body fluids and disposal of dressings and/or equipment.
Staff need to be taught on how to protect themselves whilst carrying out first aid, toileting children and cleaning up blood and body fluids.
Body fluids include urine, faeces and vomit.
To decontaminate an area after exposure we should follow the Department of Health’s guidelines on disinfection |
